The brief for this extension was to create a contemporary Hampton’s inspired dwelling for a growing family. The existing home was traditional in styling with a high-pitched roof concealing a very small and cramped first floor.
The design involved modifications to the ground floor including opening up the living, kitchen and dining room for a large open living space. The existing stairwell was narrow and dark so a large entry foyer and new staircase was designed with light spilling from the mezzanine above.
The existing high pitched roof was cut away to make way for a larger floor plate with 4 bedrooms including a master suite and study and rumpus space.
A new roof was added over the upper floor with contemporary finishes to the external facades. The existing roof is a visual link between the two floors.
